Adsense Tip #5: Keep a defined topic
Google Adsense determines the topic or topics of your pages to bring the relevant ads to your users. For that reason, it is easier that you have success by generating money with Adsense, if you only focus your site in a main topic, because in that way each one of your pages will be addressed to the same audience type and your site, besides of being a good resource for this topic, it will be supplemented with ads that are “talking” about the same thing.
If one of your main objectives is to make a lot of money with a website, you should know that not all the categories of topics are equally profitable. It is known, for example, that a technology site can attract many more high paying ads in Adsense due to the great quantity of advertisers that compete in that topic.
On the other hand, if you have a personal blog, where you tell to the public what happens during the day, don’t wait a lot of revenues with Adsense although, of course, if you are an excellent writer and you attract thousands of daily visits to your site, then Adsense can work fortuitously and generate very good dividends. But in general, the personal blogs when treating about an infinity of topics, are not focused in a defined topic and it is more difficult to make money with them than with a topical site.
Anyway, don’t forget that you should have a topical website that you like it, because in other way you will get bored or simply you will not make the things sufficiently attractive so the people visit your website, frequently.
In my own observations I have seen that there are two topics that can monetize a site more easily than many others: the technology and the shopping.
For instance, in the case of the technology: a site that makes reviews of novelties like digital cameras, HDTVs, PCs, cell phones, etc has a great opportunity to generate revenues, not only through Adsense but by complementary programs as the Chitika minimalls.
In the case of the shopping, I know about a website that promotes wholesale web-stores and they supplement the list of stores with Adsense ads in each section of the site: and most of the clicks from people are put on Adsense ads. This generate a considerable flow of monthly revenues for the site although the non-adsense ads for the stores are highlighted with some pictures and other things.
Other topics that generate good dividends are the financial topics: blogs talking about the stock market, ideas to generate money (as ourselves), economic news or reviews of Network Marketing systems are some examples of topics that can bring some good dividends with Adsense.
Finally, remember that the topic is only a part of your strategy to generate money with Adsense, but “the content is the king” and if your content is really poor, it is possible that it never ends up generating the necessary traffic to make enough money with Google Adsense. So make sure of generating excellent content and resources in your website.
