Cash blog: Jeremy Schoemaker talk about monetizing blogs

Jeremy Shoemaker is a famous blogger, who is also known as Shoemoney. His photograph with an Adsense check for $ 132,994.97 is a source of inspiration for a lot of bloggers. Obviously, this guy knows how to monetize a website. In the video you can see an interview made by Rand Fishkin from SeoMoz.org during the Search Marketing Expo - SMX West 2008. It is interesting to know that Jeremy don’t think Adsense is the best option to make money by blogging.

ADSDAQ - CPM alternative to make money by advertising

ADSDAQ - CPM alternative to make money by advertisingAlthough Google Adsense is a great option to monetize your website, sometimes there are some cases where you need to look for some alternatives because the Google ads are not performing as well as you want. For example, if you have a videoblog, Adsense may not be the best fit for your site, because they are contextual and the Google spider cannot read the content on video, so the ads could be irrelevant to your audience or the public service ads could be displayed often.

Another choice you can use is ADSDAQ. It is a marketplace where advertisers and publishers are connected in order to trade advertising (CPM ads, not CPC). Basically, if you have an ad space on your site, you ask for any price you want in order to sell it. Unlike other ad networks, if some advertisers match with your criteria, then ADSDAQ will pay you the full elected amount (your site will be categorized). Of course, you must choose an adequate price, because if it is a very high price, maybe the network will not be able to find advertisers for you, or if your price is really low, you will be leaving money on the table.

In addition, once you configure your account (no minimum page views required), you can define which additional networks you use (Google Adsense, YPN, MSN Adcenter, etc). In this way, unsold impressions will be sent to these other networks.

This is a great alternative if you want to have a chance to sell CPM ads with a convenient price but without abandoning the traditional CPC networks where you can make money every time people click on ads. So, you can have the two types of advertising in the same spot: if ADSDAQ find an advertiser for your website, then you make money with each page view. If not, you can make money with traditional pay-per-click advertising.

Copywriting for success with Amazon ads - Jay Abraham

Amazon Associates still being a good option for those who want to make money by using affiliate programs on the Internet. Of course, you can make money from this program if you have an appropriate strategy just like other affiliate programs. But another way to make money is by selling your stuff.

One thing you must keep in mind, when selling there, is the different ways to optimize your listings. For example, if you choose the wrong words, then you could be wasting your time or at least leaving money on the table.

Jay Abraham shares (in the video below) a secret about how to write good ads on Amazon. The video is about 10 minutes long and I think it is a simple thing but very valuable.

Jay Abraham is the founder and CEO of Abraham Group, Inc. in Los Angeles, California. He’s been featured twice in Investors Business Daily both on the front page and in the Leaders & Success Section - saying Jay, “Knows how to maximize results with minimum effort”.

News from Chitika: New Viral Branding Unit (VBU)

Chitika's New Viral Branding Unit (VBU)Chitika just announced its new ad type that includes video. It is called “Viral Branding Unit” (VBU) and maybe it could be (so far) the most interactive advertising type on Internet. Even it will have the ability for readers to leave comments, rating the ad and telling a friend about it.

Nowadays, many web users can ignore the traditional banner advertising methods and it is important to test with additional methods to catch the attention. These ads will be actually a conversation with the user, not only ones with an image or a text where the user is only a passive spectator. Besides that, it is another way to make money on the Internet if you have a blog or website with decent traffic. (There is a difference with the traditional Chitika advertising: these ads will be CPM, not CPC).

Currently, these ads are in beta test with selected publishers (on an invitation-only basis) and they were presented at eTail 2008 in Palm Desert, California (USA). They will be opened to the public soon.

Young Entrepreneurs - Making Money Online

Young Entrepreneurs - Making Money OnlineThe thing I like best about the Internet is the opportunity to make money with an online business. It is not so difficult if you have the right information and guidance to do it correctly (and you have perseverance). Nowadays, we can see “no grey hair” CEOs who have earned a lot of money by using the networking and leveraging power of the Internet. Many young entrepreneurs could retire as young as they want. However, they are always thinking about new ideas. Retire@21 is an inspirational site about these topics and more.

Retire@21 was created by Michael Dunlop: “young, dyslexic, college drop-out”. He has
an interesting story. I have to say that Retire@21 impressed me. There, I can read great interviews with people who make money online in different niches. The interviews include advice and the entrepreneurs talk about their experiences. Besides that, there are other sections such as “Top 21 Websites”, “Young Rich List”, “Ebooks & Courses”, “Software and Tools”.

Michael also has published a complete eBook. The eBook is available for you if you subscribe to the newsletter: Free Secrets to Making Money Online. I have read the eBook already and it is an excellent starting point for a young (or not so young) entrepreneur hoping to make money on Internet. You can download the eBook for free.
