News from Chitika: New Viral Branding Unit (VBU)

Chitika's New Viral Branding Unit (VBU)Chitika just announced its new ad type that includes video. It is called “Viral Branding Unit” (VBU) and maybe it could be (so far) the most interactive advertising type on Internet. Even it will have the ability for readers to leave comments, rating the ad and telling a friend about it.

Nowadays, many web users can ignore the traditional banner advertising methods and it is important to test with additional methods to catch the attention. These ads will be actually a conversation with the user, not only ones with an image or a text where the user is only a passive spectator. Besides that, it is another way to make money on the Internet if you have a blog or website with decent traffic. (There is a difference with the traditional Chitika advertising: these ads will be CPM, not CPC).

Currently, these ads are in beta test with selected publishers (on an invitation-only basis) and they were presented at eTail 2008 in Palm Desert, California (USA). They will be opened to the public soon.
